Some Healthy Snack Ideas

Have you been wondering what quick and easy to prepare snacks that are also quite healthy that you can make yourself? Here are a  few ideas:

Yummy Italian Popcorn: Make either a low fat microwave popcorn or on the stove top. Place in a bowl. Melt in the microwave 2 tablespoons butter and add 1 teaspoon garlic powder or granulated garlic, 1 teaspoon dried oregano and 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes and mix. Sitr and pour over popped popcorn. You can also sprinkle with Parmesan or Parmigiano cheese. Enjoy!! For a low fat version, use a butter flavored spray to make the seasonings stick instead of butter. 

Trail Mix: You can mix any dried fruits and unsalted nuts together according to your taste. Cashews, peanuts, macademia nuts, walnuts, pecans or sunflower seeds and try with raisins, dried cranberries, banana chips, coconut flakes or dates for the children you can also add a few chocolate chips - with a high coca percentage they are much healthier. Mix and Match one for every day of the week!

Frozen fruit treats: For those long hot days in summer and you need a refreshing snack, try freezing washed and cut into small pieces of fruit. Strawberries, Bananas, Peaches, Grapes or Watermelon. For an extra snaz, spread some melted chocolate or Nutella on a piece of banana, freeze and you can roll in chopped nuts if desired. YUM!!
